The Minnesota Vikings announced on Oct. 24, 2026, that they activated running back Jordan Mason ahead of their Week 7 home game against the Indianapolis Professional Football Team. The move restores a player who had been sidelined since suffering a hand injury in Week 1 that required surgery. The Vikings enter the game 5-0 while the Indianapolis Professional Football Team is 2-4.

Mason rushed 15 times for 59 yards and scored a touchdown in the season-opening 39-22 victory over Green Bay before the injury. He had not been available since that game while recovering from surgery on his hand. The team indicated the activation was made to bolster its backfield depth ahead of the Week 7 matchup.

Minnesota has leaned heavily on Aaron Jones Sr. in Masons absence, with Jones carrying 85 times for 370 yards since Week 2. Jones produced a 105-yard game at Chicago in Week 2 and gained 113 yards with a touchdown at New Orleans in Week 5, when he briefly left with a knee issue. The increased commitment to the run game placed a larger workload on Jones over the past four contests.

To open a roster spot, the Vikings released running back DeeJay Dallas from the 53-man roster and then signed him to the practice squad. Dallas originally joined Minnesotas practice squad in September before being promoted after Masons injury; he has played 40 snaps on offense and 92 on special teams. The team said Dallas will be elevated for Sundays game, and cornerback Natrone Brooks was released from the practice squad to create the available practice-squad spot.

The Vikings returned from their Week 6 bye with the active roster intact and listed as available for Sundays game at U.S. Bank Stadium. The activation of Mason gives Minnesota an additional option in the backfield as it prepares to host the Indianapolis Professional Football Team in Week 7. The move provides the Vikings with more flexibility in how they distribute carries and manage player workloads late in the week.

Jordan Masons return provides the Vikings with a familiar rotational option behind Aaron Jones Sr., which should help manage Joness workload after a heavy string of carries. Joness 85 carries for 370 yards since Week 2 underline how much the team leaned on him during Masons absence, and Masons Week 1 production shows he can contribute in short-yardage and change-of-pace situations. DeeJay Dallass continued presence, highlighted by 92 special-teams snaps this season, preserves special-teams depth while allowing the offense to keep an experienced backup available for elevation. With the active roster reportedly available for Sundays game, the Vikings now have more personnel options to navigate the matchup and protect their depth through the second half of the season.
