Texans place running back British Brooks on reserve/injured list; make series of roster moves

The Houston Texans placed running back British Brooks on the reserve/injured list, the team announced on Oct. 2, and conducted a series of roster moves through the end of September and into early October. The transactions, posted on the Texans’ official site, include promotions to the active roster, multiple practice-squad signings and additional reserve/injured placements. The moves reflect ongoing roster maintenance as the regular season progresses.
Among the more notable moves, the Texans signed running back Dare Ogunbowale off the Las Vegas Raiders practice squad on Sept. 29 and elevated defensive end Chris Braswell from the practice squad to the active roster on Sept. 30. The team also added defensive tackle Aaron Graves, linebacker Caleb Johnson and wide receiver Treyvhon Saunders to the practice squad on Sept. 30. Those moves addressed immediate depth needs on both sides of the ball.
The Texans placed several players on the reserve/injured list earlier in the stretch, including defensive tackle Mario Edwards Jr. on Sept. 30, linebacker Henry To’oTo’o on Sept. 12 and linebacker Jake Hummel on Sept. 26. The team also placed defensive tackle Kayden McDonald on the reserve/injured list on Sept. 11 and moved Noah Whittington to the practice-squad/injured list on Oct. 1. Those transactions contributed to the roster adjustments in late September and early October.
The practice-squad roster saw additional churn. On Sept. 11 the Texans signed Gavin Gerhardt and quarterback Mark Gronowski to the practice squad while releasing Dominic Bailey and Ka’ena De Cambra. The club signed wide receiver Bryce Oliver to the practice squad on Sept. 17 and released him on Sept. 30. Linebacker Jamal Hill was promoted from the practice squad to the active roster on Sept. 16, and Kenneth Murray was added to the practice squad that same day. Earlier in September the Texans signed international-exempt player Max Pircher and added defensive tackle Junior Tafuna to the practice squad.

The Texans’ flurry of transactions underscores the depth-management challenges teams face as the season progresses. Placing running back British Brooks on the reserve/injured list removes a backfield option, and signing running back Dare Ogunbowale provides an immediate veteran addition to the position group. Promoting defensive end Chris Braswell and adding several defensive tackles to the practice squad aim to offset the loss of Mario Edwards Jr. and other injured defenders. Continued roster churn reflects the Texans’ effort to preserve flexibility while dealing with injuries and performance needs as the regular season advances.
