Jets promote Nate Lynn to active roster, place Braiden McGregor on injured reserve; Nathan Voorhis added to practice squad

The New York Jets elevated edge Nate Lynn to the active roster, placed edge Braiden McGregor on injured reserve with a chest injury and signed edge Nathan Voorhis to the practice squad, the team announced. McGregor sustained the chest injury during Sundays loss to the Chicago Bears. The move created a roster opening that Lynn filled.
Lynn, listed at 6-foot-3 and 252 pounds, signed with the Jets on Aug. 18 and had been on the practice squad since Aug. 31. He appeared in the preseason against the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants, recording three sacks and seven tackles in those games. Lynn played collegiately at William & Mary, finishing his career second in school history with 28 sacks and third with 40 tackles for loss.
Lynn began his NFL journey in Detroit and missed the 2024 season on injured reserve with a torn ligament in his shoulder. He also spent time on the Tennessee Titans practice squad last November. The Jets will look to his preseason productivity for immediate depth on the edge.
McGregor is listed at 6-foot-6 and 267 pounds and signed with the Jets as an undrafted free agent in 2024 after playing at Michigan. He appeared in four games this season and totaled seven tackles before being placed on injured reserve. McGregor has played in 23 NFL games in his career, compiling 28 tackles and one sack.
Voorhis, listed at 6-foot-2 and 251 pounds, joined the Jets as an undrafted free agent and had two tackles in preseason action before being waived-injured on Aug. 23. In 2025 at Ball State, he totaled 51 tackles (30 solo), 17 tackles for loss, one forced fumble and 12 sacks, the fifth-most in the FBS that season. The East Stroudsburg, Pa., native also played at Bryant and Connecticut during his college career and now joins the Jets practice squad as a developmental option on the edge.

The Jets moved quickly to replace McGregors roster spot by promoting Lynn, whose preseason production gives New York an immediate boost at edge. McGregors placement on injured reserve removes a young depth piece who had been active in four games, increasing the importance of Lynn and other reserve rushers. Adding Voorhis to the practice squad provides a high-production college player with sack pedigree for development behind the active roster.
