Texans waive quarterback Mark Gronowski, elevate Bryce Hall and Kenney Murray; reinstate Kayden McDonald and M.J. Stewart

The Houston Texans waived quarterback Mark Gronowski and wide receiver Bryce Oliver on Oct. 10 and elevated defensive back Bryce Hall and linebacker Kenney Murray from the practice squad, the team announced. The Texans also reinstated defensive tackle Kayden McDonald from injured reserve and defensive back M.J. Stewart from the physically unable to perform list. The team’s transaction log listed those moves on Oct. 10.
Gronowski’s roster status shifted multiple times this month. The team added him to the roster Oct. 7 and had previously carried him on the practice squad in September before releasing him, according to the transactions record. His waiver Tuesday follows that recent re-signing.
On Oct. 7 the Texans designated wide receiver Tank Dell, defensive tackle Kayden McDonald and offensive tackle Braden Smith to return from injured reserve. The team signed defensive back Jaden Davis, linebacker Chad Muma and running back Deuce Vaught to the practice squad that day. The club also signed Gronowski on Oct. 7 before moving him again on Oct. 10.
The Texans placed running back British Brooks on injured reserve on Oct. 2 and made several roster adjustments around that date. On Sept. 30 the Texans signed defensive tackle Aaron Graves, linebacker Caleb Johnson and wide receiver Treyvhon Saunders to the practice squad. The team also promoted linebacker Chris Braswell from the practice squad to the active roster on Sept. 30 and placed defensive lineman Mario Edwards on injured reserve.

These transactions reflect standard in-season roster management as the Texans balance immediate game-day needs with longer-term returns from injury. Reinstating Kayden McDonald from injured reserve and M.J. Stewart from the PUP list adds depth along the defensive front and in the secondary. Elevating Bryce Hall and Kenney Murray from the practice squad provides short-term reinforcement, while waiving Mark Gronowski after re-signing him earlier in the week appears to be a roster-number move rather than a long-term commitment at quarterback. Placing British Brooks on injured reserve underscores a continuing need for running-back depth.
