The Chiefs’ public relations office released the Week 6 injury report Wednesday ahead of the Chiefs’ Oct. 14 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers at 3:45 p.m. The report lists practice designations and injury notes for several players on both teams. It included full participation for some key players and nonparticipation or limited status for others that could affect Week 6 roster decisions.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes was listed with a knee issue and was a full participant in practice. Wide receiver Rashee Rice did not participate because of hamstring and knee concerns. Cornerback L’Jarius Sneed was limited with a knee issue, and Josh Simmons was limited with a back issue. Fullback Ben VanSumeren and defensive back Chamarri Conner were full participants, which helps the Chiefs’ depth.

The Chargers’ report included multiple limited or nonparticipating players, led by offensive tackle Joe Alt, who did not participate with a neck issue. Safety Derwin James Jr. did not participate with a hamstring issue, and wide receiver Quentin Johnston was limited with a chest issue. Several other players logged limited participation, including defensive lineman Dalvin Tomlinson (hamstring), wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling (rib), wide receiver Ladd McConkey (foot) and wide receiver KeAndre Lambert-Smith (hamstring). Those statuses could affect the Chargers’ game-planning and depth for Sunday.

Patrick Mahomes practicing fully Wednesday is a positive sign for the Chiefs’ offense heading into Week 6. Rashee Rice’s absence with hamstring and knee issues bears watching as the Chiefs finalize their active list. Limited participation from L’Jarius Sneed and Josh Simmons clouds depth, while full participation from Ben VanSumeren and Chamarri Conner helps special teams and defensive rotation. On the Chargers’ side, Derwin James Jr.’s absence and limited participation from Quentin Johnston could prompt schematic adjustments for Sunday.
