On Oct. 11, 2026, the Miami Dolphins marked a major fundraising milestone during their Crucial Catch game against the Cincinnati Bengals by presenting a ceremonial check at halftime to celebrate the Dolphins Cancer Challenge reaching $100 million in lifetime funds raised. The presentation included cancer survivors, doctors and researchers from Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and DCC board members on the field with team officials. The on-field ceremony honored donors, volunteers and those directly impacted by the funds raised through the Dolphins Cancer Challenge.

Team owner Stephen M. Ross and Ross Sports & Entertainment CEO Daniel Sillman joined Dolphins Cancer Challenge board members, cancer survivors and Sylvester doctors and researchers for the check presentation. Ross and Sillman thanked donors and volunteers who helped the DCC reach its milestone. The Dolphins said the halftime moment paid tribute to the record accomplishment and the people who benefited from the funds.

Founded in 2010 in honor of former Dolphins player and broadcaster Jim “Mad Dog” Mandich, the Dolphins Cancer Challenge serves as the club’s year-round health initiative. The Dolphins say the DCC has grown into the largest annual fundraising event in the NFL. The organization directs 100 percent of DCC funds to cancer research and patient care at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, part of the University of Miami Health System and the Miller School of Medicine. DCC XVII is scheduled for Feb. 27, 2027.

The Dolphins highlighted several community moments tied to the Crucial Catch initiative. Head coach Jeff Hafley spoke about the importance of the Dolphins Cancer Challenge and its work in the community. Miami Dolphins Cheer hosted survivor-focused events, including a practice visit by 15-year-old Jada Marie Anderson following treatment for stage 3 synovial sarcoma; the cheerleaders joined her on the field to ring the Living Proof Bell. The team also invited Jake, a cancer survivor, and his brother Justin, his bone marrow donor, to meet players at the Baptist Health Training Facility.

Channel 7 and Channel 18 foundations joined forces to donate $1 million to the Dolphins Cancer Challenge. The halftime presentation paid tribute to survivors, physicians and organizations fighting cancer in South Florida. Team officials acknowledged the role of donors and volunteers in reaching the $100 million milestone.
