The Washington Commanders listed defensive tackle Daron Payne as questionable for Sunday night’s matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles, the team announced Friday, Oct. 30, 2026. Payne was added to the injury report with a foot issue. He joined wide receiver Treylon Burks, defensive tackle Jer’Zhan Newton and tight end John Bates as players listed as questionable on Friday’s report. Javon Kinlaw was ruled out for the game, an expected move that Dan Quinn had hinted at earlier in the week.

Newton tore his pectoral in the preseason finale and is now listed as questionable after working to get healthy, Dan Quinn said. Newton’s potential return would help mitigate Kinlaw’s absence in the defense’s interior. Charles Omenihu was limited in practice and could return after missing the Week 6 game, but the report did not designate him as questionable. Omenihu has been an important piece of the run defense and would be helpful as the Commanders try to contain Philadelphia running back Saquon Barkley, who was on the Eagles’ injury report but is cleared to play.

The report listed quarterbacks Jayden Daniels and Marcus Mariota and wide receiver Stefon Diggs as full on Friday. John Bates and Treylon Burks were limited in practice and are questionable for Sunday, while Daron Payne was also limited and listed as questionable. Javon Kinlaw was ruled out, and several players including Terry McLaurin, Javontae Jean-Baptiste and Jacory Croskey-Merritt remain on injured reserve. The Commanders said they are as close to full strength as possible as they try to turn their season around.

The availability of Washington’s interior defensive line will be pivotal for Sunday night’s game. With Kinlaw ruled out, the Commanders will rely on the availability of Newton, Omenihu and Payne to shore up their run defense. If Newton or Omenihu is not available, Washington will face increased pressure to rotate backups in the interior. Final designations after Saturday’s practice will determine how the Commanders approach personnel against the Eagles’ offense.
