FOXBOROUGH, Mass.

— The New England Patriots signed running back Lan Larison to the 53-man roster from the practice squad and elevated wide receiver Ryan Miller to the active roster, the team announced Oct. 31, 2026. Larison was originally signed by New England as a rookie free agent on May 9, 2025, out of UC Davis and spent his rookie season on injured reserve. Miller was added to the Patriots’ practice squad on Oct. 29, 2026 and was elevated two days later.

Larison, 25, was released by New England on Aug. 30, 2026 and signed to the practice squad on Sept. 1, 2026. He was elevated to the active roster for the season opener at Seattle and finished that game with two kickoff returns for 49 yards and two receptions for nine yards. He is listed at 5-foot-11 and 209 pounds.

Miller, 26, entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2023 out of Furman and spent time with Tampa Bay (2023-25), the New York Giants (2025) and the Miami Dolphins (2026). Tampa Bay released him on Dec. 10, 2025 and he was claimed off waivers by the Giants, who released him on Aug. 24, 2026; Miami claimed him off waivers on Aug. 25, 2026. He played in five games with Miami this season and recorded three receptions for 92 yards and one touchdown before his release on Oct. 13, 2026. Miller has played in 30 NFL games with six starts and is listed at 6-foot-2 and 217 pounds; he has 17 career receptions for 254 yards with four touchdowns.

The team posted the transactions in its official transaction release on Oct. 31, 2026. Both moves add depth to the Patriots’ active roster at skill positions. Larison brings recent game work on special teams and limited offensive snaps, while Miller brings a sample of big-play receiving production from his stint with Miami this season.

These roster moves give New England immediate depth at running back and receiver without adding external free agents. Larison’s kickoff-return work and offensive snaps in the season opener suggest he can contribute on special teams and in select offensive situations. Miller’s 92-yard performance with Miami this season highlights his ability to stretch the field in limited opportunities. Both players have prior 53-man roster experience, which should ease their integration into the team’s game-day rotations.
