The New York Giants signed running back Eric Gray to the practice squad and released defensive lineman Josh Tupou, the team announced on Nov. 2, 2026. Coach John Harbaugh said running back Cam Skattebo was “day-to-day” following a workout Monday, and outside linebacker Abdul Carter missed the session because of an illness. The moves come as the Giants (4-2-1) prepare for a Week 9 road game against the Philadelphia Eagles (2-6).

Earlier in the bye week, the Giants placed running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. on injured reserve after he suffered a hamstring injury late in the second quarter of the Oct. 25 overtime victory at Houston. In corresponding moves on Oct. 27, the team signed Gregory Desrosiers from the Los Angeles Chargers practice squad to the active roster and added veteran defensive lineman Dean Lowry to the practice squad, while releasing wide receiver Jason Brownlee. General manager Joe Schoen said Tracys injury would not be season-ending.

Tracy has totaled 2,260 yards from scrimmage and 13 total touchdowns since being drafted in 2024, and he became the third player in franchise history to reach 1,000 scrimmage yards in each of his first two seasons. The team noted Tracy has returned 17 kickoffs for 453 yards (26.6 average), including a long of 55 yards. Desrosiers, an undrafted rookie, has not yet appeared in an NFL regular-season game and saw action at Louisville, UMass and Memphis in college. Lowry brings extensive experience, including 132 games and 85 starts, and career totals that include 271 tackles and 16.5 sacks.

The moves follow New Yorks 27-21 overtime victory over the Houston Texans on Oct. 25, when Devin Singletary scored on a 30-yard run in overtime and Cam Skattebo produced a career-high 124 rushing yards. That win pushed the Giants to 4-2-1 and gave them a two-game lead in the NFC East entering the bye. The Eagles sixth consecutive loss dropped them to 2-6 after a defeat to Washington on Sunday night, per the teams tracker. Harbaugh described the victory as “a massive energy shot in the arm” and emphasized the importance of the upcoming divisional slate.

Adding Eric Gray to the practice squad provides immediate backfield depth after Tyrone Tracy Jr.s placement on injured reserve and the recent uncertainty around Cam Skattebos availability. Gregory Desrosiers represents a low-risk option with college production, while Dean Lowry supplies veteran experience to the defensive line group. The Giants enter Week 9 with a first-place hold in the NFC East and must manage short-term depth across the running back and defensive line positions during a critical divisional stretch. Monitoring Skattebos day-to-day status will be important for New Yorks game-planning against Philadelphia.
