Baltimore Ravens’ Nate Wiggins Inactive vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
Clifton Brown of BaltimoreRavens.com reports the Baltimore Ravens ruled cornerback Nate Wiggins inactive for Thursday night’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Nov. 5, 2026, leaving the team without its top cover corner for the first time this season. Wiggins had been a full participant in practice Tuesday after sustaining a stinger in Buffalo but missed Wednesday’s practice with an illness. His absence forces the Ravens to reshuffle a secondary that has been tested in recent weeks.
Veteran Marlon Humphrey has started every game this season and figures to absorb a larger role alongside veterans Chidobe Awuzie and T.J. Tampa as Baltimore attempts to slow Jacksonville’s passing attack led by Trevor Lawrence. The Jaguars feature a receiving duo in Parker Washington (27 catches, 432 yards, four touchdowns) and Jakobi Meyers (22 catches, 309 yards, two touchdowns). The Ravens surrendered 35 and 36 points in their last two games, underscoring the need for an improved effort from the secondary.
Austin Reed, who was signed to Baltimore’s 53-man roster this week, is active and will serve as the backup to undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano, who is making his first NFL start. Reed spent the preseason in Baltimore and brings familiarity with the offense. Kedon Slovis, signed off the Green Bay Packers’ practice squad this week, will be the emergency No. 3 quarterback.
Baltimore reportedly is finalizing a trade for veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett, though he would not be in line to make his debut until Monday, Nov. 16, vs. the Los Angeles Chargers. The Ravens used standard practice squad elevations to bring up kicker Jake Moody and outside linebacker Adisa Isaac for the game. Moody replaces Tyler Loop, who was placed on injured reserve with a right groin injury, and it will be Moody’s first game this season.
Starting safety Jaylinn Hawkins (knee) was ruled out earlier in the week and will miss a third straight game, further impacting the Ravens’ defensive backfield. Also inactive for Baltimore are wide receiver Elijah Sarratt, guard Emery Jones Jr., and defensive lineman Aeneas Peebles. Isaac has played the past two games exclusively on special teams.
For Jacksonville, top running back Bhayshul Tuten, who ranks 15th in the NFL with 492 rushing yards, is active after working out before the game despite not practicing all week because of ankle and foot issues. Tuten is coming off a season-high 104-yard performance against the Indianapolis Professional Football Team in Week 8. Jaguars starting defensive end Travon Walker, who has three sacks this season, was listed as questionable with a rib injury but is active; Jacksonville’s inactives include wide receiver CJ Williams, cornerback Alijah Huzzie, safety Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig, and defensive lineman Wesley Williams.
NFL Sports Blog Take
Nate Wiggins being inactive alters Baltimore’s coverage assignments and places more responsibility on Marlon Humphrey and the veteran corner group to manage Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars’ receiving weapons. The Ravens’ recent defensive struggles, including allowing 35 and 36 points in consecutive games, increase the urgency for improved coverage and pass-rush timing. Having Austin Reed active provides continuity behind rookie starter Joe Fagnano, while the reported pursuit of Jacoby Brissett indicates the team is seeking veteran insurance at quarterback. Special teams will see an immediate change with Jake Moody handling kicking duties, and the absence of Jaylinn Hawkins will test Baltimore’s safety depth against a Jacksonville offense that can threaten through the air and the run with Bhayshul Tuten active.
