ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Denver Broncos promoted long snapper Mitchell Fraboni from the practice squad to the active roster, the team announced Saturday. The club placed rookie running back Jonah Coleman on injured reserve in a corresponding move. The Broncos also elevated fullback Adam Prentice and wide receiver Kolbe Katsis from the practice squad to the active roster for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams.

The Broncos elevated Fraboni from the practice squad for each of their first two games. The team promoted him to the active roster on Saturday. The roster move corresponded with the Broncos placing Coleman on injured reserve.

The team had ruled Coleman out of Sunday’s game after he did not practice this week. Coleman, a rookie fourth-round pick, averaged 4.5 yards per touch and totaled 58 scrimmage yards with a touchdown in Week 2. He would be eligible to return as early as Week 7 against the Arizona Cardinals.

The Broncos elevated Prentice for their first two games; he has played 12 percent of Denver’s offensive snaps and 67 percent of the team’s special teams snaps. Following Saturday’s roster move, Prentice has reached the maximum number of allotted elevations and would need to be promoted to the active roster to play in future weeks. Katsis, an undrafted rookie from Northern Arizona, has yet to appear in a regular-season game; in the preseason he caught one pass for 15 yards, returned three punts for a 16.0-yard average and returned six kickoffs for a 31.2-yard average.

The Broncos will host the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. Kickoff is 6:20 p.m. MT on NBC. The game will air nationally as Sunday Night Football.

NFL Sports Blog Take

Elevating Mitchell Fraboni to the active roster provides continuity at long snapper after his two game-day elevations. Placing Jonah Coleman on injured reserve removes a young offensive weapon who had shown early production. Adam Prentice reaching the elevation limit forces a roster decision: the Broncos must promote him to the active roster if they want him available beyond temporary elevations. Kolbe Katsis showed promising preseason return averages but remains untested in regular-season action.
