Browns’ KC Concepcion Jr. seeks to sustain breakout, featured role
The Cleveland Browns said KC Concepcion Jr. will continue in a featured offensive role after the rookie delivered a career-high performance in Week 7, the team announced Oct. 30, 2026. Concepcion caught eight passes for 129 yards and added three carries for 23 yards in the Browns’ win over the Tennessee Titans. His 152 yards from scrimmage were the most by a Browns player in a game this season.
Through seven games, Concepcion leads the Browns with 30 receptions and ranks second on the team with 315 receiving yards, according to the team release. Head coach Todd Monken said the staff intends to find ways to get Concepcion the ball, calling him quick, powerful and a player who thinks “score” on every touch. The team plans to feature Concepcion more frequently as it prepares for its Week 8 matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The release noted that Concepcion has been patient while waiting for opportunities to show his full skill set and that his film work has accelerated his development. Concepcion said on Oct. 25 that studying film after the Week 1 game helped him identify disguises and read coverages more quickly during games. Teammate Denzel Boston, who was the Browns’ second rookie receiver selection in 2026, credited Concepcion’s ability to create momentum and said the pair have built a close connection since joining the team.
Wide receivers coach Christian Jones told the team on Oct. 23 that Concepcion’s next step is to diagnose defenses faster and make quicker decisions in live action. Jones emphasized that gaining those instincts requires in-game reps and experience with the speed and distractions of NFL play. The Browns have planned to give Concepcion more opportunities as part of his continued progression.
The team also noted Concepcion was nominated for NFL Rookie of the Week for his Week 7 performance against the Titans. As Cleveland enters Week 8 aiming to retain first place in the AFC North, Concepcion said he is focused on stacking productive weeks and continuing to contribute to the Browns’ ascending offense. The Browns will look to leverage his after-the-catch ability and route-running in upcoming game plans.
NFL Sports Blog Take
Concepcion’s Week 7 breakout is backed by measurable production and increased involvement, as he leads the team in receptions and sits second in receiving yards through seven games. The Browns’ stated plan to feature him and Monken’s comments indicate a clear path for more targets, while coaching staff notes about diagnosing coverages highlight the developmental work underlying the outlook. Maintaining this level of play against the Steelers and beyond will require Concepcion to consistently read defenses and convert targets into chunk plays, but his film-room progress and rapport with teammates give the Browns a reason to trust him in a larger role. Continued game reps and play calling that finds him in space should determine whether his breakout becomes a sustained trend.
