NASHVILLE 6 Quarterback Cam Ward said he remains motivated to help the Tennessee Titans reverse their fortunes and change the narrative surrounding the franchise. Ward, a first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, said being chosen was one of the best days of his life and that he welcomed the chance to help a team that had few recent wins. He acknowledged the challenge of turning the club around and said he expected improvement would not be easy. By Jim Wyatt | Oct. 14, 2026.

Ward has started 22 games for Tennessee and is 3-19 in those starts, and he said he understood from the outset that improvement would not be easy. He noted that his rookie season included the firing of the head coach but said the change has not diminished his commitment. Ward vowed to stay positive, keep working and use the remaining games to try to change how the team is perceived. He said the group’s ability to control the weekly narrative depends on executing plays at a high standard.

On Wednesday, Ward emphasized sustained effort and execution as critical to the team’s progress and said, “We are all in this together.” He added that the goal is “bigger than ourselves” and that the organization must decide what narrative it wants to project. Ward said the team has the ability to change that narrative each week by executing plays at a high level. He acknowledged that the club is not playing its best football but said every game provides a chance to improve.

Through five games this season, Ward has completed 98 of 155 passes for 896 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions. The Titans are coming off a 26-3 loss to the Texans and return to action this Sunday at the Indianapolis Professional Football Team. Ward said the team knows its capabilities but is not meeting expectations and that there are many games left to alter results. He added that the team must play better on Sundays to achieve the outcomes it wants.

NFL Sports Blog Take

Ward is early in his career and faces clear performance and team-wide execution issues, as his 98-of-155 passing line and three touchdowns against three interceptions through five games indicate. The 3-19 mark in his 22 starts underscores the broader rebuilding task that Tennessee faces. For the Titans to change trajectory, the offense must convert opportunities into points and reduce mistakes while Ward provides consistent leadership and execution. Continued emphasis on preparation and on-field performance could help the team alter its narrative in the weeks ahead.
