Eagles open injured-reserve practice window for four; Saquon Barkley does not practice ahead of Panthers game
PHILADELPHIA The Eagles said Wednesday on PhiladelphiaEagles.com that they opened the practice window for four players currently on injured reserve. The team held its first practice of the week at Lincoln Financial Field as it prepared for Sundays game against the Carolina Panthers. The report was posted Oct. 14, 2026.
Philadelphia listed running back Saquon Barkley (hamstring) among six players who did not participate in Wednesdays practice. The other nonparticipants were wide receiver DeVonta Smith (hamstring/toe), defensive back Michael Carter II (abdomen), outside linebacker Jalyx Hunt (knee/ankle), center Drew Kendall (knee) and running back Will Shipley (foot). Barkleys absence left his availability for Sunday unclear as the Eagles continued to manage injuries ahead of Week 6.
The Eagles opened the practice window for cornerback Jakorian Bennett, tight end Grant Calcaterra (back), guard Landon Dickerson (knee) and tight end Eli Stowers (quad), and all four were limited on Wednesday. Dickerson is the only one of the group who has appeared in a game this season; he started the season opener before going on injured reserve. He said, “Happy to be back at practice. Glad to be back out there. Feeling good and healthy.”
Wide receiver Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown (ankle), safety Marcus Epps (groin) and outside linebacker Jonathan Greenard (ankle) returned to practice on a limited basis Wednesday. Brown has been sidelined since suffering the ankle injury during preparation for Week 3 in Chicago, and Epps was hurt one week later in practice. Greenard did not practice at all last week after being listed as questionable and a game-day decision before ultimately not being able to play.
The club listed several players as full participants Wednesday, including quarterback Jalen Hurts (calf), linebacker Zack Baun (shoulder), defensive tackle Jalen Carter (wrist), outside linebacker Arnold Ebiketie (shoulder) and tackle Fred Johnson (knee). The full participation list also included linebacker Jihaad Campbell (knee/wrist) and safety Andrew Mukuba (shoulder). The injury report further showed limited designations for A.J. Epenesa (back), E.J. Jenkins (toe), Tyler Steen (shoulder) and Dontayvion Wicks (hamstring).
Carolina did not hold a practice Wednesday following its bye week, and the Panthers injury report was provided as an estimate, the Eagles noted. The Panthers listed rookie right tackle Monroe Freeling and running back A.J. Dillon as nonparticipants with knee issues. The estimated report showed Damien Lewis (elbow), Jaelan Phillips (hamstring), tight end Tommy Tremble (ribs) and tight end Darren Waller (toe) as limited, while Jalen Coker, Trevor Etienne, Thomas Incoom, Taylor Moton, Tershawn Wharton and Bryce Young were listed as full participants.
NFL Sports Blog Take
Opening the injured-reserve practice window gives the Eagles a chance to evaluate players readiness and potentially bolster depth ahead of the Panthers game. Landon Dickersons limited return after starting Week 1 is a notable development for the offensive line, while Saquon Barkleys absence from practice suggests the team may need to adjust its ground-game plan. Because Carolina did not practice and provided an estimated report, the Panthers availability should be viewed as tentative until later in the week.
