The Philadelphia Eagles signed tackle Xavier Truss and defensive tackle Zion Wilson to the practice squad and released tight end Josiah Deguara and cornerback Shaun Wade, the team announced Tuesday on the Eagles’ website. The moves add depth along both the offensive and defensive lines and open two practice-squad spots. The team listed the transactions on its website as part of Tuesday’s roster update.

Truss, a 6-foot-7 tackle who played at Georgia, was the highest-rated high school prospect in Rhode Island history and appeared in 66 games for the Bulldogs, winning two College Football Playoff national championships. After going undrafted in 2025 he signed with the Denver Broncos, was waived in final cuts and then was claimed by the New Orleans Saints, appearing in seven games during his rookie season. New Orleans released him this preseason and he spent time on the Cleveland Browns’ practice squad before being waived on Oct. 6.

Zion Wilson, a 6-foot-3, 316-pound undrafted rookie from East Carolina University, originally signed with the Eagles before training camp and was waived in the team’s final roster cuts. In three preseason games for Philadelphia, Wilson posted nine tackles, two tackles for loss or no gain and four quarterback pressures. The Eagles said Wilson had planned to transfer to the University of Virginia but the NCAA denied his eligibility waiver. In his first and only season as a starter at East Carolina in 2025, Wilson posted 42 tackles, 10 for loss and seven sacks (Editors note: the source listed “Eastern Carolina University”; this has been corrected to East Carolina University).

Josiah Deguara, a third-round pick of the Green Bay Packers in 2020, spent four years in Green Bay before stops in Jacksonville and Arizona and was signed to the Eagles’ practice squad after Week 1. Over seven NFL seasons he has 53 receptions for 471 yards and three touchdowns, according to the team announcement, and he was elevated to Philadelphia’s active roster against the Los Angeles Rams amid injuries at the position. Shaun Wade, a 2020 fifth-round pick out of Ohio State, signed with the Eagles in June and led the preseason with three forced fumbles while totaling 18 tackles and three passes defensed; he also spent time on practice squads for the Los Angeles Chargers and Chicago Bears and played for the UFL’s Dallas Renegades in 2026, compiling 24 tackles, three interceptions, nine pass breakups and one forced fumble in eight games.

NFL Sports Blog Take

By adding Truss and Wilson the Eagles bolster depth along the offensive and defensive lines with a mix of recent NFL experience and developmental upside. Truss brings size and limited regular-season snaps after time with New Orleans, while Wilson showed disruptive play in Philadelphia’s preseason and posted strong numbers as a starter at East Carolina in 2025. Releasing Deguara and Wade frees two practice-squad spots and signals a shift toward players who can provide immediate practice depth and be available for elevation if injuries occur.
