Los Angeles Chargers enter Week 8 0-6; will be road team at SoFi Stadium vs. Rams
The Los Angeles Chargers returned to the practice field following their Week 7 bye and remain the NFL’s lone winless club at 0-6, the team reported in a story published Oct. 26, 2026. The Bolts practiced twice during the bye week and were scheduled to reconvene Monday for another session at The Bolt in El Segundo. The Chargers will travel a short distance for their Week 8 matchup but will be designated the road team when they face the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium.
The team said offensive struggles have been the primary issue this season, despite high expectations after consecutive 11-win campaigns and the hiring of offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel. Per the Chargers’ report, Los Angeles ranks last in EPA per play (-0.190) and has been hampered by recurring penalties and miscues. Defensively, the Chargers have performed at a higher level, ranking eighth in EPA per play (-0.028), and their special teams unit carries an overall Pro Football Focus grade of 87.5, which ranks 11th in the league.
The Chargers entered the bye at 0-6 and became the NFL’s only winless team when the Miami Dolphins defeated the New York Jets on Sunday, the team noted. Los Angeles faces a Rams club that improved to 3-4 after a 35-21 road victory over the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 7. Although the game is at SoFi Stadium, the Chargers will be listed as the visiting team for the Week 8 meeting.
The club also highlighted looming roster and roster-management considerations with the 2026 trade deadline approaching on Nov. 10 at 1 p.m. PT. The Chargers acknowledged general manager Joe Hortiz has completed deadline deals in prior seasons and indicated the team will evaluate whether its sub-.500 record factors into any moves this year. With the standings placing Los Angeles at the top of the draft order, the team currently holds the No. 1 pick in the 2027 NFL Draft and possesses seven selections overall, including all of its own picks in the first five rounds.

The Chargers face a clear offensive problem that is quantifiable: last in EPA per play at minus-0.190 according to the team report. Their defense has kept Los Angeles competitive, sitting eighth in EPA per play, and special teams have strengthened with a strong PFF grade, but those positives have not produced wins because the offense has not sustained clean, complementary play for full games. The short trip to SoFi Stadium for Week 8 removes travel as a factor and presents a timely opportunity to break the winless stretch against a Rams team that is 3-4. With the Nov. 10 trade deadline and possession of the projected No. 1 overall pick, the Chargers face both immediate and longer-term decisions depending on how the offense performs in the coming weeks.
