Patriots sign safety Elliott Davison to practice squad
The New England Patriots signed safety Elliott Davison to the practice squad on Nov. 4, 2026. The team released Davison on Nov. 2. The move returns the defensive back to the Patriots organization less than a week after his release.
Davison originally joined New England’s practice squad on Sept. 3, 2026, was released on Sept. 14 and re-signed on Sept. 15. He was elevated from the practice squad twice before the Patriots signed him to the 53-man roster on Oct. 19. The 6-foot, 200-pound defensive back appeared in three games for New England and recorded one tackle on defense and one tackle on special teams.
Davison entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie free agent with the New Orleans Saints on April 4, 2025, out of the University of Texas at San Antonio. He spent the 2025 season on the Saints’ practice squad and went to New Orleans’ training camp in 2026. The Saints released him on Aug. 30, 2026, before he returned to New England later in the season.

The Patriots’ signing restores depth at the safety position and returns a player familiar with New England’s system. Davison’s limited game experience included three appearances and contributions on special teams, which represented his primary on-field role this season. His prior elevations and stint on the 53-man roster show that the club already turned to him when game-day needs arose. The move gives the Patriots roster flexibility as they manage weekly defensive and special-teams needs.
