Saints designate Jaylan Ford, Lorenzo Styles to return from injured reserve; make multiple roster moves

The New Orleans Saints designated linebacker Jaylan Ford and defensive back Lorenzo Styles to return from injured reserve, the Saints’ transaction log shows. The moves were listed on the Saints’ transactions page on ESPN and were dated Oct. 7. These designations are part of a long string of roster changes the Saints have made through the offseason and early regular season.
On Oct. 1, the Saints signed wide receiver Kevin Austin to the active roster and placed running back Travis Etienne on injured reserve, the log shows. The Saints also added running back Ulysses Bentley and defensive end David Ojabo to the practice squad that day. Austin was later elevated multiple times from the practice squad during September.
The transactions listing shows the Saints claimed defensive tackle Colby Wooden off waivers from the Indianapolis Professional Football Team and offensive tackle Mason Murphy off waivers from Chicago on Aug. 31. The Saints signed kicker Daniel Carlson on Aug. 24 and placed offensive lineman Dillon Radunz on injured reserve on Aug. 12, a move the log lists as ending his season. Those moves were part of several late-August roster adjustments aimed at bolstering depth.
The transactions page also records routine practice-squad elevations and roster churn through September, including elevating receivers Kevin Austin and Jalen Moreno-Cropper to the active roster on Sept. 26. The Saints waived running back Audric Estime and later reached an injury settlement with him on Sept. 22, and the log shows additional practice-squad activity such as adding Long-snapper Cal Adomitis and elevating long snapper Scott Daly. The listing also notes earlier additions to depth, including defensive backs Michael Davis and David Long Jr. in August and the signing of running back C.J. Donaldson in April.

The Saints have used transactions across the summer and early season to shore up depth on the defensive line, offensive line and special teams while managing injuries in the backfield. Designating Jaylan Ford and Lorenzo Styles to return from injured reserve provides reinforcements in the front seven and secondary, while the Oct. 1 placement of Travis Etienne on injured reserve helps explain the signings of Ulysses Bentley and the Saints’ earlier retention of running back C.J. Donaldson. Claims such as Colby Wooden and additions like Mason Murphy and Daniel Carlson reflect a roster-building approach aimed at immediate depth and veteran presence as the team navigates the regular season.
