The Tennessee Titans activated cornerback Joshua Williams from injured reserve and waived defensive back Erick Hallett, the team announced Saturday. Williams is eligible to play in Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Professional Football Team. The Titans also announced defensive lineman Timmy Horne and safety Isaiah Oliver will be game-day elevations for Sunday.

Williams was placed on injured reserve on Aug. 31 with a pectoral injury. Earlier this month the team opened a three-week window allowing him to practice without counting against the 53-man roster. He practiced the past two weeks as that window progressed. The activation ends his stint on injured reserve and returns him to the active roster.

Williams signed with Tennessee in March after four seasons with Kansas City. He is listed at 6-foot-3, 201-pound and was brought in to compete for playing time in the Titans’ new-look defense and to contribute on special teams. Williams has played in 65 NFL games with 12 starts and compiled 86 tackles, 18 passes defensed, one sack and one interception. He started a career-high six games in 2024 and intercepted Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow in the 2022 AFC Championship Game.

The moves trim the defensive backroom ahead of Sunday’s matchup. Tennessee will travel to Indianapolis for a noon kickoff on Sunday against the Indianapolis Professional Football Team. The elevations of Horne and Oliver provide additional depth for the game-day roster.

NFL Sports Blog Take

Bringing Joshua Williams off injured reserve restores a veteran presence at corner and a proven special-teams contributor for a Titans defense that was retooled this offseason. His size and experience with the Chiefs, including starting in 2024 and playoff exposure in 2022, offer Tennessee a physical option at cornerback. Waiving Erick Hallett shortens the secondary depth chart, while the game-day elevations of Timmy Horne and Isaiah Oliver give the staff short-term flexibility for the matchup in Indianapolis. Williams’ immediate availability will be worth monitoring on game day given his recent pectoral recovery and practice activity the past two weeks.
