The Tennessee Titans returned to the field Wednesday at Vanderbilt Health Football Center as they continued preparations for Sundays game at the Indianapolis Professional Football Team. Jim Wyatt, senior writer/editor, posted practice updates and short videos from the session. The club worked through its weekly routine as it prepared for the road game.

Wide receiver Carnell Tate leads all rookies with 23 receptions and ranks second among first-year players with 273 receiving yards, the team noted. He produced nine catches for 145 yards in Week 4 against the Baltimore Ravens and caught one pass for six yards last week against the Houston Texans. Asked Wednesday about handling the ups and downs of a rookie season, Tate said, “I am just focused on what I can control,” adding, “As long as you do you 1/11th, and each person does their 1/11th, we can go out there and win games.” Wyatt posted clips of Tate in the locker room and working routes at practice.

Cornerback Joshua Williams was moved last week to the designated-to-return-to-practice list, opening a three-week window for him to practice without counting against the 53-man roster until he is activated from injured reserve, the team said. He was not activated for Sundays game against the Texans and did not play. Williams was a full participant in Wednesdays practice while managing a quad issue. The team said it will reassess his status ahead of Sunday.

The team’s injury report listed cornerback Corale Flott as a full participant and cornerback Marcus Harris (ankle), safety Amani Hooker (concussion) and tight end David Martin-Robinson as limited participants. Defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers and running back Tony Pollard were designated NIR-Rest and did not practice, and safety Kevin Winston Jr. also did not participate. Running back Tyjae Spears was limited with a knee issue.

Wyatt posted photos and short videos showing quarterback Cam Ward, defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons and tackle JC Latham among those working on the field, and he shared clips of Tates practice work as well. The practice visuals included images of the defensive line and a clip of Tate going deep, according to Wyatts posts. The Titans will return to practice Thursday as they finalize preparations for the trip to the Indianapolis Professional Football Team.

NFL Sports Blog Take

Carnell Tate has shown big-play ability and inconsistency, a common pattern for rookies, which makes him an intriguing but unpredictable contributor. Joshua Williams move to the designated-to-return-to-practice list gives the club flexibility to evaluate him without a roster move, and his full practice Wednesday is a positive sign but does not guarantee activation. The NIR-Rest designations for John Franklin-Myers and Tony Pollard keep two veterans sidelined, and multiple limited participants leave questions about depth. The Titans practice results over the next 48 hours will be important for determining the final game-day roster and game plan for the trip to the Indianapolis Professional Football Team.
