WASHINGTON Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn said Monday that quarterback Jayden Daniels will travel to London and participate in practice this week. Quinn made the comments a day after the Commanders’ 33-31 victory over the Seattle Seahawks. The team will travel to London to face the Indianapolis Professional Football Team.

Quinn said Daniels, along with linebacker Frankie Luvu and tight end Chig Okonkwo, “will all make the trip to London and will participate in practice in some form and fashion.” He cautioned that participation in practice does not guarantee a player will be active on game day and said the staff will continue to evaluate their progress throughout the week. He added that Thursday will be the day the team ramps up its on-field work after lighter sessions earlier in the week.

Medical personnel carted linebacker Leo Chenal off the field after he suffered a neck fracture, and Quinn said Chenal’s surgery went well. “That is a big deal,” Quinn said, praising Chenal’s contributions on and off the field. Quinn said the team will hold a final medical meeting before the trip that will influence which injured players could be cleared for Sunday.

Offensive lineman Sam Cosmi remains in the concussion protocol, and the team will make a final decision on whether he will travel on Tuesday, Quinn said. Quinn said it sounds like running back Rachaad White will make the trip to London, but coaches will see how he reacts in practice throughout the week. Quinn also said there was no update on safety Nick Cross at the time of his remarks. The staff will use midweek evaluations to determine final availability.

The Commanders reportedly signed running back Austin Ekeler to the active roster, and Quinn said the team expects him to travel to London. He said the staff will work to integrate Ekeler into a new offensive system and “get him into practice” to see where he fits into the game plan. Ekeler missed the 2025 season with an Achilles injury and had been a key piece of Washington’s 2024 attack. Quinn called Ekeler “a great teammate” and said it was good to have him back at work.

Jayden Daniels taking part in London practices is an encouraging sign but does not guarantee he will be active Sunday; the Commanders are following a stepwise return-to-play protocol and will make decisions after the team’s medical meeting and additional practices. Traveling with several recovering starters and adding Austin Ekeler to the active roster gives Washington more options on offense while it manages serious injuries such as Chenal’s neck fracture and Cosmi’s concussion protocol. Expect final availability to hinge on midweek evaluations and how players respond to increased workload on the practice field.
