Indianapolis Professional Football Team makes multiple practice-squad moves, signs Carl Lawson and Quez Watkins

The Indianapolis Professional Football Team added defensive end Carl Lawson to its practice squad on Oct. 7 and signed wide receiver Quez Watkins to the practice squad on Oct. 6, the club reported on its official transactions page. The moves were part of a string of practice-squad transactions that the club made this week as it adjusted depth across multiple positions. The club listed the transactions on its official transactions page.
Along with Lawson and Watkins, the team released tight end Kenny Fletcher Jr. from the practice squad on Oct. 7 and released cornerback Elijah Culp from the practice squad on Oct. 6. Wide receiver Nick Westbrook-Ikhine reverted to the practice squad on Oct. 5 after being elevated to the active roster on Oct. 3 for the team’s game against the Washington Commanders. The club has used such elevations and releases to adjust its roster in response to game-day needs.
Those recent changes followed earlier roster work this month. On Sept. 26 the club promoted wide receiver Anthony Gould from the practice squad to the 53-man roster and placed wide receiver Alec Pierce on injured reserve. On Sept. 26 the team also elevated wide receiver Nick Westbrook-Ikhine to the active roster for the game against the Houston Texans.
The transactions are part of ongoing roster management as the Indianapolis Professional Football Team navigates injuries and game-day needs, using practice-squad signings and elevations to maintain flexibility ahead of upcoming games. The club’s transactions log stretches back through August and shows a range of moves, including signings, waiver claims and injured reserve designations. Fans and media can review the full list of moves on the team’s official transactions page.

Adding defensive end Carl Lawson and wide receiver Quez Watkins to the practice squad gives the Indianapolis Professional Football Team additional options at those positions without altering the 53-man roster. With wide receiver Alec Pierce on injured reserve and wide receiver Anthony Gould moved up to the active roster, the club has promoted from within and rotated players such as wide receiver Nick Westbrook-Ikhine between the practice squad and active roster. These practice-squad additions provide immediate depth and the ability to elevate players for game day should injuries or other needs arise.
