Browns support Italy’s U-15 Frogs Legnano at NFL Flag European Championship

The Cleveland Browns said on their website that they assisted Frogs Legnano as the U-15 girls represented Italy at the NFL Flag European U-15 Girls Championship in London on Oct. 5. The Italian squad finished fifth overall after posting two wins and two losses against teams from seven countries, including Spain, France, Great Britain, Germany and Ireland. Great Britain claimed the championship at the conclusion of the tournament.
The Browns provided support to make the trip possible as part of a broader partnership with the Italian Federation of American Football (FIDAF) aimed at growing flag football in Italy and expanding opportunities for girls. The partnership focuses on grassroots investment and on creating pathways for the next generation of players and coaches. Supporting the Frogs’ journey to London served as a tangible example of that commitment.
Before the tournament, Frogs Legnano attended the NFL regular-season game between the Washington Commanders and the Indianapolis Professional Football Team at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Oct. 4. The girls lined up near the players’ tunnel to welcome both NFL teams onto the field and watched their quarterback carry the Italian flag during a third-quarter presentation celebrating the seven participating nations. The Italian team used the same locker room occupied by the Commanders the previous day and found their Italy uniforms waiting for them.
The Frogs Legnano roster included players from Pittbulls Brianza, Skorpions Varese and Blitz Cirié, highlighting cooperation across Italian clubs to develop young female athletes. For the players, London offered an international experience that combined competition, exposure and cultural exchange. With flag football preparing to make its Olympic debut at Los Angeles 2028, early access to international competition is an important step in building pathways for girls who want to play and compete at higher levels.

The Cleveland Browns’ backing of Frogs Legnano provides a concrete example of how NFL clubs can accelerate development overseas by funding travel, exposure and on-site experiences at existing NFL events. A fifth-place finish with a 2-2 record in a seven-nation field suggests the Italian program is competitive while still in an early growth phase. As flag football approaches its Olympic debut, continued partnerships between NFL clubs and national federations like FIDAF can help create clearer development pipelines for young women.
