Bears Pull Away From Seahawks 34–17
By Brian Hradsky
The Chicago Bears beat the Seattle Seahawks 34–17 on Monday night at Lumen Field, pulling away after Seattle cut the deficit to three in the fourth quarter. D’Andre Swift ran for three touchdowns as Chicago improved to 6–2 with its third straight win. Seattle dropped to 4–4.
Chicago opened with a 17-play, 80-yard drive and led 20–9 entering the fourth. Caleb Williams completed 24 of 34 passes for 247 yards and a touchdown, and Rome Odunze caught four passes for 87 yards. Swift finished with 69 yards on 27 carries, with his biggest value coming when the Bears needed to finish drives.
Seattle got within 20–17 before Chicago scored the final 14 points. The Seahawks gained 252 yards and converted only one of 11 third downs, while Sam Darnold completed 17 of 34 passes for 188 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Jeffery Simmons recorded six tackles, a sack and a pass breakup and blocked a fourth-quarter field goal.
Brian’s Take
The Bears’ opening drive and their response to the fourth-quarter challenge were two versions of the same strength: they stayed on schedule long enough to finish possessions. Seattle stayed within reach even with its third-down struggles, but one conversion in 11 tries left the defense with too much work. Simmons gave Chicago another way to affect a close game before the offense stretched the lead.
