Arizona Cardinals’ Jalen Brooks Out for Season After Wrist Surgery
Wide receiver Jalen Brooks underwent emergency surgery on Monday, Oct. 26, 2026, ending his season after dislocating his wrist during the first quarter of the Arizona Cardinals’ Sunday game against the Denver Broncos on Oct. 25, 2026. The team reported that Brooks played the remainder of the game before seeking immediate medical attention. Coach Mike LaFleur praised Brooks’ toughness, saying the player did not complain and often adjusted the injured wrist during the game.
The loss of Brooks creates a significant vacancy in the Cardinals’ receiving corps after he had emerged as a preseason favorite and a more prominent offensive piece following the trade of Marvin Harrison Jr. With Brooks sidelined, the wide receivers available, excluding Michael Wilson, are Kendrick Bourne, Simi Fehoko and Reggie Virgil, while undrafted rookie Harrison Wallace III remains on the practice squad. Bourne has 25 receptions for 234 yards this season, and Virgil has two receptions for 29 yards and played only three snaps on Sunday amid an increase in 13-personnel packages.
LaFleur said the team will replace Brooks “by committee,” adding, “It’s next man up and the show goes on.” The coach provided additional injury and practice updates, saying running back Jeremiyah Love, safety Dewey Wingard and cornerback Max Melton are expected to return to practice on Wednesday. Defensive tackle Walter Nolen III will not practice Wednesday but has not been ruled out for the Week 8 game in Dallas, and LaFleur said running back James Conner could “potentially” return this year while tight end Tip Reiman’s recovery remains uncertain.
The Cardinals have been effective in moving the football and rank near the top of the league in red-zone plays, but drives have stalled in goal-to-go situations, LaFleur acknowledged. He said coaching must put the team in better positions to finish those drives and took responsibility, saying he will “look in the mirror first” for the shortfalls. The loss of Brooks reduces options in tight spaces and goal-line packages, an area LaFleur indicated will need attention by the coaching staff.

Brooks’ season-ending surgery further thins a receiving unit that already is adapting to roster changes this month, leaving the Cardinals dependent on Kendrick Bourne as the primary veteran target outside of Michael Wilson. The combination of increased 13-personnel snaps and limited recent usage by players such as Reggie Virgil suggests Arizona may lean on committee looks and practice-squad elevations to fill immediate needs. With Week 8 in Dallas approaching and other players returning to practice Wednesday, the coaching staff must adjust personnel groupings and red-zone play calls to compensate for Brooks’ absence while monitoring the recovery timelines for key offensive contributors.
