A’Shawn Robinson detailed his interception of Kyler Murray and the defensive mindset he wants the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to adopt after their 23-16 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, speaking on the Players’ Table Show on Sept. 29, 2026. Robinson said the play began with a collapsed pocket and credited teammate Vita Vea for tipping the pass before it landed in front of him, giving him his second career interception. It was the first Buccaneers defensive lineman with an interception since William Gholston in Week 8 of the 2023 season against the Buffalo Bills.

Tampa Bay’s defense held Minnesota to 230 total yards, the fewest the team has allowed this season and the second-fewest since the start of the 2025 season, according to the team. The Buccaneers yielded nine first downs, their fewest in a game since Week 9 of the 2022 season against the Los Angeles Rams, and limited the Vikings to two conversions on 15 third-down attempts (13%). Kyler Murray finished 15-of-29 for 168 yards with one touchdown and one interception for a 66.5 passer rating.

The Buccaneers signed Robinson in free agency in March to bolster their defensive line. Robinson has appeared in 143 career games with the Detroit Lions, Los Angeles Rams, New York Giants and Carolina Panthers, making 106 starts, and has compiled 500 total tackles, 37 tackles for loss, 37 quarterback hits, 23 passes defended, 15 sacks, six forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries and one interception returned for a touchdown. His 2024 season in Carolina included career highs in tackles (43), quarterback hits (8) and sacks (5.5), the team said.

Team materials describe Robinson as a player who dislodges centers and guards with a powerful punch, can generate push in the pocket and combines quickness with strength to shed blockers. The Buccaneers, at 0-3, are focusing on accountability and attention to detail as they pursue their first win. “How can we hold ourselves accountable and what details, how can we pick ourselves up to be that much better because it came down to the details,” Robinson said. “We did not have those details covered.”

Robinson’s interception illustrated how interior disruption can create turnovers, and the Buccaneers’ defensive numbers against Minnesota showed the unit can limit yards and third-down conversions. The team’s inability to turn those defensive performances into a victory underscores Robinson’s point about attention to detail and accountability. With a track record of anchoring run defense and collapsing pockets, Robinson provides interior versatility the Buccaneers will need to pair with cleaner execution elsewhere to convert improved defense into wins.
