The Chicago Bears activated linebacker Noah Sewell from Reserve/PUP and elevated running back Zavier Scott from the practice squad for Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers, the team announced. The club also listed defensive back Kyler Gordon (calf) and defensive lineman Shemar Turner (knee) as out for the contest. Scott’s elevation is a standard practice-squad gameday elevation and, per NFL rules, he will revert to the practice squad after the game.

Sewell has appeared in 35 career games with nine starts since the Bears selected him in the fifth round, 148th overall, of the 2023 NFL draft. He started nine games in 2025 and posted a career-high 54 tackles, including 29 solo tackles, three tackles for loss and one forced fumble last season for Chicago. The Bears activated Sewell from Reserve/PUP as they adjusted the roster ahead of the matchup in Green Bay.

A native of Malaeimi, American Samoa, Sewell played at Oregon from 2020-22 and earned All-Pac-12 recognition in each of his final two seasons after being named the Pac-12 Defensive Freshman of the Year in 2020. He finished his collegiate career with the Ducks before entering the NFL in 2023. The activation returns a player with notable college accolades and early professional experience.

Scott joined Chicago’s practice squad prior to the regular season after spending training camp with the Minnesota Vikings. He entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Indianapolis Professional Football Team in 2023 and spent most of his rookie season on that club’s practice squad before signing to the Vikings’ practice squad prior to the 2024 season. Scott appeared in 16 games for the Vikings in 2025, rushing for 114 yards on 32 carries and catching 14 passes for 98 yards for 212 yards from scrimmage, and he contributed on special teams. His elevation for Sunday is temporary under NFL practice-squad elevation rules and he will revert to the practice squad after the game.

NFL Sports Blog Take

Reactivating Sewell restores depth at linebacker and gives the Bears a player with recent starting experience and a 54-tackle season in 2025. Scott provides a short-term boost to the backfield and special teams; his 2025 work for Minnesota shows he can contribute in limited offensive snaps and on coverage units. With Kyler Gordon and Shemar Turner out, Chicago adjusted its active roster to address immediate availability concerns at multiple positions.
