LOS ANGELES — Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills defeated the Los Angeles Rams 37-34 in overtime Monday night at SoFi Stadium. The victory was Allen’s 100th in his NFL career and his first in eight games that required an overtime period. Buffalo improved to 4-1 while the Rams fell to 2-3.

The overtime sequence began with Khalil Shakir taking a short pass over the middle for a 57-yard gain to the Rams 22, but James Cook III had the ball punched loose on the next play and Los Angeles recovered. The Rams moved into position for a 48-yard try, but outside linebacker Greg Rousseau broke through and blocked the attempt by Harrison Mevis. Allen scrambled twice to move the Bills into field-goal range, and Tyler Bass kicked a 45-yard field goal to win the game.

The fourth quarter featured a flurry of scoring, with six straight touchdown drives before regulation ended. Trailing 27-27 with just over seven minutes remaining, Allen converted a third-and-long with a 15-yard scramble and later connected with Shakir on a 17-yard gain. Allen scrambled again for 21 yards on a second-and-17, and Cook finished the drive with a five-yard touchdown plunge to give Buffalo a 34-27 lead. Los Angeles then marched to the 1 and Kyren Williams plunged across the goal line with 1:39 left to tie the game at 34 and force overtime.

Buffalo lived on the ground Monday, with Allen rushing for 121 yards on 10 carries and a touchdown while Cook added 111 yards on 25 attempts and two rushing scores. The pair combined for 232 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns. Allen completed 12 passes for 202 yards and one touchdown, and Shakir led the Bills with three catches for 80 yards, 73 of which came in the fourth quarter and overtime. Ty Johnson had 72 receiving yards on four catches, and Ray Davis had a 31-yard catch and a 70-yard opening kickoff return that helped set up a 49-yard field goal.

Los Angeles quarterback Matthew Stafford was 40 of 54 for 383 yards and three touchdowns. Puka Nacua was targeted 24 times and caught 17 passes for 138 yards and a touchdown, the most receptions by an opponent against the Bills. Stafford’s performance produced 34 points but the Rams came up short.

Buffalo was hurt by a pair of turnovers, including Cook’s fumble in overtime, and 13 penalties that accounted for 112 yards. Those miscues threatened to derail the Bills, but timely plays on the ground and a blocked Rams kick in overtime swung the game. The win represented a statement victory despite the mistakes.

Buffalo will remain on the West Coast for Week 6, facing the Las Vegas Raiders at Allegiant Stadium on Sunday, Oct. 18. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET. The Bills will look to tighten up penalties and turnovers as they head into the matchup.

Buffalo’s win was built on a dominant ground performance and timely plays at the end of regulation and in overtime. Allen’s mobility created critical yardage when the passing game struggled, and James Cook’s consistent work between the tackles sustained several scoring drives. The Bills must clean up turnovers and penalty yardage, but Greg Rousseau’s block and Tyler Bass’s game-winning kick underscored how defense, special teams and the running game combined to secure the dramatic victory.
