ENGLEWOOD, Colo. 6 The Broncos signed wide receiver Cam Ross to the practice squad Tuesday and released outside linebacker Jahfari Harvey from the practice squad in a corresponding move, the team announced. Ross signed with Denver as a college free agent out of Virginia in May. The move adds depth at receiver and on special teams as the club adjusts its practice-squad personnel.

Ross recorded five receptions for 29 yards during the Broncos’ preseason slate. He averaged 23.5 yards per kickoff return during the preseason and rushed for a 28-yard gain that set up a touchdown in Denver’s preseason win over the Falcons. In his lone season at Virginia, Ross had 53 catches for 543 yards and two touchdowns. He also averaged 33.3 yards per kickoff return with a touchdown for the Cavaliers.

Harvey was signed to the Broncos’ practice squad on Sept. 29 and was released Tuesday as part of the corresponding roster move. The transaction reflects another short-term roster adjustment as Denver manages practice-squad depth and special-teams capability. The team announced the move Tuesday.

NFL Sports Blog Take

Cam Ross brings kickoff-return production at both the college and preseason levels, which could make him a useful option for special teams and offensive depth on the practice squad. His five preseason catches and a 28-yard rush show versatility that the club likely values. Releasing Jahfari Harvey reverses a practice-squad signing the team made on Sept. 29 and underscores how teams continue to iterate on practice-squad personnel during the early part of the season.
