Browns expand international footprint with Italy marketing rights and Nigeria flag-football initiatives

The Cleveland Browns announced an expanded international push that includes marketing rights in Italy and new partnerships to grow flag football programs in Italy and Nigeria, the team said. The club formed a partnership with the Italian Federation of American Football (FIDAF) to establish Browns Italia and build its presence in the country. The Browns also announced initiatives in Nigeria in collaboration with the Nigerian American Football Association (NAFA) and NFL FLAG aimed at increasing youth and women’s participation.
The NFL awarded the Cleveland Browns marketing rights in Italy through its Global Markets Program, the team said. The club said Browns Italia will handle its marketing, outreach and event activities in the Italian market. The Browns said it will support programs tied to the IFAF European Youth Flag Football Championships, scheduled for Sept. 24-26 in Italy.
In Nigeria, the Browns and NAFA launched the “One Ball, One Flag, One Future” initiative with NFL FLAG to expand access to youth flag football. They also introduced “Gridiron Gems,” a program aimed at empowering women in flag football across the country. The team said Browns Nigeria supported NAFA at a U.N.-side event Sept. 21 during the 81st United Nations General Assembly at the Consulate General of Nigeria in New York.
The team’s international news also referenced broader flag-football activity in Europe, including the IFAF World Flag event in Dusseldorf. Italy’s U-17 boys earned bronze at the 2026 European Youth Flag Football Championships. Italy’s U-17 girls and U-15 mixed teams finished fifth.

These announcements reflect a concerted push by the Browns to use the NFL’s Global Markets platform and targeted partnerships to build presence and programming overseas. Securing marketing rights in Italy and formal ties with the Italian Federation of American Football gives the franchise a direct channel for branded outreach, while the collaborations with NAFA and NFL FLAG emphasize grassroots development and female participation. Combining support for European youth championships with a U.N.-side event shows an approach that pairs on-field competition with community and development initiatives to build sustained engagement.
