Cleveland Browns executive Andrew Berry named to Harvard Varsity Club Hall of Fame
A Cleveland Browns news release by Kelsey Russo posted Oct. 23, 2026, announced that Andrew Berry, executive vice president of football operations and general manager of the Cleveland Browns, was selected for induction into the Harvard Varsity Club Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2026. The 12-member class will join more than 600 athletes from Harvard’s 42 varsity teams. The induction ceremony is scheduled for Oct. 23, 2026. The news release provided the details and quotes included in this report.
Berry said the honor came as a surprise after former Harvard head coach Tim Murphy called him in the spring of 2026 to deliver the news. He called the announcement “a really cool, pleasant surprise” and “an incredible honor,” according to the Browns release. Berry noted the rarity of being recognized among athletes from many sports at an institution with a long athletic history. The release included his reflections on the significance of the selection.
Berry was recruited to Harvard as a quarterback out of Bel Air High School in Maryland but shifted to cornerback early in his collegiate career after an injury to a senior cornerback. Murphy and the defensive staff saw his athleticism and discussed the change with him and his parents. Berry decided to switch so he could compete for playing time as a freshman and earned a starting job. He remained a four-year starter in the Harvard secondary as he learned the position.
Berry was a three-time All-Ivy League selection and an All-America honoree during his Harvard career. He totaled 125 career tackles and five interceptions as a member of the Crimson. Academically, Berry graduated cum laude in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in economics and earned a master’s degree in computer science within four years. He was one of five finalists for the John Wooden Citizenship Cup, a finalist for the Draddy Trophy and was named the 2009 Football Championship Subdivision Athletic Director Association Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Berry has remained involved with Harvard and its football program since graduation. He served on the committee that helped hire Andrew Aurich to succeed Murphy following Murphy’s retirement in 2024. Berry keeps close relationships with former teammates and coaches; former teammate Steven Williams, now an assistant coach at Harvard who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2025, was part of Berry’s wedding. The Browns’ release noted his continued support for the program.
