ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — On Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2026, Denver Broncos cornerback Pat Surtain II returned to practice for the first time since suffering an ankle injury in Week 4 against the San Francisco 49ers. The team listed Surtain as a limited participant as it prepared for its Week 7 matchup with the Arizona Cardinals. Surtain is an All-Pro player whose availability will be monitored as the week progresses. The Broncos published the practice report Oct. 21, 2026.

Wide receiver Jaylen Waddle (chest) and defensive lineman Zach Allen (not injury related — rest) were also limited participants during Wednesday’s on-field work. Cornerback Riley Moss, who played 20 defensive snaps in his Week 6 return, was a full participant in Wednesday’s practice. Running back Jonah Coleman (ankle), whom the Broncos designated for return to practice on Wednesday, was also a full participant. The full sessions by Moss and Coleman provide additional depth as the Broncos finalize preparations for Week 7.

Running back Tyler Badie (thumb), safety Talanoa Hufanga (ankle) and outside linebacker Jonah Elliss (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday. The team noted that Hufanga did not play in Week 6. Head coach Sean Payton indicated Wednesday that Elliss’ injury is not expected to end his season. The Broncos said they will release an additional practice report on Thursday and will provide official game statuses for Week 7 on Friday.

NFL Sports Blog Take

Pat Surtain II returning to the practice field is a positive sign for the Broncos’ secondary, but his limited designation shows the team is monitoring his ankle closely. Riley Moss practicing fully after a brief return in Week 6 helps shore up cornerback depth. Jonah Coleman being designated for return to practice and participating fully gives the coaching staff an additional option at running back. The non-participation of Tyler Badie and Talanoa Hufanga reduces depth at their positions unless one or both are cleared later in the week.
