Head coach Shane Steichen announced Friday that cornerback Justin Walley and linebacker Akeem Davis-Gaither will not play in Sundays Week 9 game against the Dallas Cowboys. Both players are listed out on the Indianapolis Professional Football Team’s latest practice report and will be unavailable for the matchup. The team published the practice report on Nov. 6, 2026. The moves were announced as the Indianapolis Professional Football Team finalized its Friday injury designations.

Walley sustained a knee injury in Week 7 against the Minnesota Vikings and has not practiced or played since the contest. Davis-Gaither did not practice this week and was ruled out ahead of the Cowboys game. Their absences remove two defensive players from active availability for Sundays contest.

The Indianapolis Professional Football Team also listed safety A.J. Haulcy as questionable with an ankle issue after he was limited in Fridays practice. Tackle Jalen Travis was listed as questionable with thumb and hamstring concerns despite being a full participant in practice all week. Those questionable designations will be monitored ahead of final activations before the game.

The Dallas Cowboys ruled out linebacker Malachi Lawrence with an ankle injury and wide receiver Kavontae Turpin with rib issues on their report. Several Dallas players were listed as questionable, including Jonathan Bullard (calf), Jake Ferguson (ankle), Marist Liufau (forearm), DeMarvion Overshown (hamstring, back), George Pickens (hamstring), Joey Porter (ankle) and Luke Schoonmaker (groin). Both teams will finalize activations as game time approaches.

NFL Sports Blog Take

The Indianapolis Professional Football Team will need to adjust its defensive rotation with Justin Walley and Akeem Davis-Gaither unavailable, increasing reliance on depth in the secondary and at linebacker for Sunday. A.J. Haulcys questionable tag adds uncertainty to the back end of the defense, while Jalen Travis being a full participant despite a questionable listing could affect offensive-line availability. Dallass cross-reporting of injuries creates mutual roster questions, and final game-day activations will determine personnel groupings for Week 9.
