Packers’ Mike Holmgren again finalist for Hall of Fame
GREEN BAY — Former Green Bay Packers head coach Mike Holmgren is one of five coaches under consideration for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s class of 2027, the Packers’ official site reported Nov. 5, 2026. The group of five will be reduced later this month to a single coach nominee for potential election to Canton. Holmgren joins Bill Belichick, Tom Coughlin, Dan Reeves and Mike Shanahan on this stage of the selection process.
Holmgren led Green Bay to consecutive Super Bowl appearances in the 1996 and 1997 seasons, including a victory in Super Bowl XXXI. His tenure with the Packers produced six straight postseason berths from 1992-98. Including playoff games, Holmgren posted an 84-42 record in Green Bay and a 75-37 mark in the regular season.
After leaving Green Bay, Holmgren guided the Seattle Seahawks to the franchise’s first Super Bowl appearance and compiled a 90-80 record with Seattle including postseason results over 10 seasons. He also earned two Super Bowl rings as an assistant coach with the San Francisco 49ers. His overall head-coaching record stands at 174-122, a .588 winning percentage.

Holmgren’s résumé offers clear credentials for Canton: a Super Bowl title as a head coach, sustained postseason success in Green Bay and a landmark Super Bowl trip with Seattle. The coach category for the class of 2027 includes several high-profile figures, which will make the final choice competitive when the field is narrowed later in November. Voters will balance Holmgren’s winning percentage and championship pedigree against the long-term accomplishments of the other finalists as they select the single coach nominee for potential induction.
