Packers list Javon Hargrave questionable; two players doubtful for Week 5 vs. Bears

GREEN BAY, Wis. The Green Bay Packers added defensive tackle Javon Hargrave to their Week 5 injury report Friday, listing him as questionable with a toe issue for Sundays game against the Chicago Bears, the Packers announced Friday on packers.com. Defensive tackle Anthony Campbell (ankle) and center/guard Jager Burton (back) were also listed as questionable. Guards Aaron Banks (knee/toe) and Jacob Monk (quadricep) were listed as doubtful. Running back Chris Brooks (ankle) and wide receiver Savion Williams (ankle) were ruled out.
Banks returned to practice Friday for the first time since sustaining a toe injury in Week 2 against the New York Jets, and Monk has been out since leaving with a quadricep injury in Week 3 against Atlanta. With Banks and Monk unavailable last week at Tampa Bay, Green Bay started Laken Tomlinson at left guard and Travis Glover at right guard. Head coach Matt LaFleur said veteran Kevin Zeitler is continuing a gradual return and that his availability will depend on how comfortable he feels before a decision is made for Sunday.
With Brooks availability in doubt, the Packers signed fourth-year veteran Pierre Strong off their practice squad. The 5-foot-11, 207-pound running back has appeared in 46 NFL games but has not played in a regular-season game since 2024. Strong has been working with the team since his signing and the club views him as an experienced option if called upon. LaFleur said Strong has done a great job since arriving and noted he is a natural runner with limited game action who should be ready if given the opportunity.
Savion Williams, who opened a 21-day practice window after being designated to return from injured reserve, returned to practice in a limited capacity this week as he works back from a high-ankle sprain. Williams missed the first month of the regular season with that high-ankle sprain. The Packers nonetheless listed him as out for Sunday. The club did not assign a game status for several other players expected to be available Sunday, including tackle Anthony Belton (knee), cornerback Brandon Cisse (neck), edge rusher Lukas Van Ness (shoulder) and defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt (ankle).
The Chicago Bears ruled out running back Kyle Monangai (thumb/toe) and linebacker Keyshaun Elliott (quadricep). Quarterback Caleb Williams was listed as questionable after limited practice Friday and returned to limited on-field work for the first time since leaving the fourth quarter of Chicagos Sept. 20 loss to Minnesota. Chicago also designated multiple players on injured reserve with a return designation cornerback Kyler Gordon (calf), linebacker Noah Sewell (Achilles) and defensive tackle Shemar Turner (knee) and listed all three as questionable.
Chicago did not issue a game status for several regular contributors who are expected to be available, including running back DAndre Swift (hip/knee), guard Joe Thuney (pectoral), tackle Darnell Wright (ankle), guard Jonah Jackson (ankle) and cornerback Cam Lewis (hip). Defensive lineman Grady Jarrett was listed only with rest and is expected to be available. Those players could ease the Bears lineup concerns if they are active on Sunday.
NFL Sports Blog Take
Offensive-line availability represents Green Bays most immediate concern. With Aaron Banks and Jacob Monk trending to doubtful, the Packers may again rely on Laken Tomlinson and Travis Glover or a limited Kevin Zeitler depending on pregame evaluations. The backfield depth chart will change with Chris Brooks unavailable and Pierre Strong elevated from the practice squad; Strong brings experience but limited recent game action. Javon Hargraves status is important for the interior pass rush and run defense, and the Packers will need rotation pieces to step up if he cannot play against a Bears team that is managing its own questions at quarterback and elsewhere.
