Steelers sign linebacker Elandon Roberts to practice squad

Oct. 12, 2026 — The Pittsburgh Steelers signed veteran linebacker Elandon Roberts to the practice squad, the team announced on Steelers.com. Roberts previously spent the 2023 and 2024 seasons in Pittsburgh and was with the club during the 2026 preseason before he was released on the final roster cutdown. He will provide experienced depth to the linebacker group and special-teams units.
Roberts spent the 2025 season with the Las Vegas Raiders, where he started 16 of the 17 games he played and finished with 90 tackles, including six for a loss. His defensive coordinator in Las Vegas was Patrick Graham, who is the Steelers’ defensive coordinator. Roberts’ familiarity with Graham’s system dates to their time together with the Raiders.
During his two previous seasons in Pittsburgh, Roberts appeared in 33 games with 29 starts and recorded 147 tackles, 92 of them solo, along with 15 tackles for a loss, 3.5 sacks, two passes defensed and a forced fumble. Over a 10-season NFL career, Roberts has appeared in 156 games with 120 starts and compiled 58 tackles for a loss, 34 quarterback hits, 14.5 sacks, 13 passes defensed, five forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and one interception. The team announced the transaction on Steelers.com.

Signing Roberts to the practice squad reunites the Steelers with a seasoned inside linebacker who has recent, productive playing time and direct experience with current defensive coordinator Patrick Graham. The move gives Pittsburgh a veteran option who can step in on short notice and contribute on special teams. Roberts’ familiarity with Graham’s defensive approach reduces the acclimation curve and preserves roster flexibility while maintaining depth at the linebacker position.
