Texans Beat Jaguars 34-31 in London

By Brian Hradsky
The Houston Texans defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars 34-31 on Sunday at Wembley Stadium, winning their Week 6 division matchup on Ka’imi Fairbairn’s 49-yard field goal as time expired. C.J. Stroud threw for 312 yards and three touchdowns as Houston delivered a much-needed response to its difficult start. The Texans improved to 2-4, while Jacksonville fell to 4-2 after another tightly contested game in London.[1][2][4]
How the game turned
Fairbairn finished a seven-play, 36-yard drive that gave Houston the final word in a game filled with offensive answers. He made both field-goal attempts and all four extra points, keeping every available kicking point on the board. His final kick also extended his run of successful field goals from under 50 yards to 51 consecutive attempts, according to the Texans.[1]
Stroud completed 24 of 34 passes and posted a 116.3 passer rating, combining efficiency with the scoring production Houston needed. His three touchdown passes marked a season high, while the passing game gave the Texans enough offense to match Jacksonville’s responses. Marvin Harrison Jr. added three receptions for 34 yards in his Houston debut, giving the offense another contributor as it worked through the afternoon.[2]
Key performances and context
Houston also received a timely contribution from Jawhar Jordan, who broke free for a 25-yard touchdown run in his season debut. The Texans had opportunities to create more separation, including a drive that ended with an interception in the end zone. Their defense prevented that mistake from becoming the final turning point, giving Stroud another chance to move the team into scoring position.[2][3]
Jacksonville remained competitive throughout and had enough offense to force Houston into a last-possession finish. The loss still represented a missed chance to strengthen its AFC South position against a rival that entered with one victory. For Houston, the difference was its response after adversity: the Texans recovered from a costly mistake and executed the drive that ultimately decided the game.[3][4]
NFL Sports Blog Take
Houston needed a result that matched its offensive potential, and Stroud delivered one against the division leader. The late interception showed there is still room for improvement, but answering it with a winning drive mattered more than pretending the afternoon was flawless. Jacksonville remains in a useful position in the AFC South, although this was an opportunity it could not afford to treat casually.
