Philadelphia Eagles sign Jaydon Blue; Dameon Pierce placed on IR
The Philadelphia Eagles announced on Oct. 28, 2026, that they have signed running back Jaydon Blue from the practice squad to the active roster and placed running back Dameon Pierce on Injured Reserve. The team also added guard Evan Beerntsen, wide receiver Quentin Skinner and defensive back Shaun Wade to the practice squad, according to the club. The moves give the Eagles additional depth at multiple positions amid a stretch of running back injuries.
Blue will be on the Eagles’ 53-man roster for a second time this season after beginning the year on the practice squad. He was promoted to the active roster ahead of Week 6 against Carolina earlier this season, was released the following week and returned to the practice squad before Wednesday’s move. The club cited Pierce’s placement on Injured Reserve as the corresponding roster change.
Selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft out of Texas, Blue appeared in five games as a rookie, totaling 129 rushing yards on 34 attempts and one touchdown. He ran a 4.38-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine and finished his senior season at Texas with 730 rushing yards, eight rushing touchdowns and an average of 5.4 yards per carry, adding six receiving touchdowns. Blue was waived by Dallas as part of final roster cuts before joining the Eagles’ practice squad this season.
Pierce joined the Eagles in free agency this offseason and began the year on the practice squad before being elevated previously. He is the fourth Eagles running back to land on Injured Reserve this season; Carson Steele was waived/injured and reverted to IR, Tank Bigsby was placed on IR after a Week 4 injury, and Will Shipley was placed on IR earlier in the stretch of moves. With Saquon Barkley also sidelined by injury, Pierce moved into a prominent role for three games, totaling 96 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 37 carries before being placed on IR.
Guard Evan Beerntsen joins the Eagles’ practice squad after a collegiate career that included six seasons at South Dakota State and a 2025 transfer to Northwestern following a seventh year of eligibility. Beerntsen started on the offensive line for South Dakota State during back-to-back FCS national championship appearances and allowed zero sacks or quarterback hits for Northwestern while helping the Wildcats win the GameAbove Sports Bowl. The 6-foot-4 guard was a seventh-round pick of the Baltimore Ravens in the 2026 NFL Draft, spent time on the Seattle Seahawks’ practice squad and was released Oct. 21 before signing with Philadelphia.
Quentin Skinner, a 6-foot-4 receiver out of Kansas, signed to the practice squad after going undrafted in 2025 and spending his rookie year with the New York Jets. Skinner recorded one catch for 10 yards and a two-point conversion catch in Week 18 last season and totaled 1,584 yards and 11 touchdowns on 80 collegiate receptions across his Kansas career. The Eagles added him to bolster depth at receiver with size and collegiate production.
Shaun Wade returns to the Eagles’ practice squad after originally joining the club in June and spending training camp and the preseason in Philadelphia. Wade led the NFL in the preseason with three forced fumbles while recording 18 tackles and three passes defensed, according to the team announcement. The former fifth-round pick has prior NFL experience with Baltimore and New England, appeared in 20 games with the Patriots and recorded 26 tackles during that stint.

The Eagles’ promotion of Jaydon Blue addresses an immediate need for speed and depth at running back after Dameon Pierce was placed on Injured Reserve on Oct. 28, 2026. Blue’s 4.38 40-yard dash and prior NFL game experience give Philadelphia an experienced, faster option behind an already thin backfield that has lost multiple players to IR this season. Adding Beerntsen, Skinner and Wade to the practice squad strengthens depth along the offensive line, at receiver and in the secondary, while providing the club with options to elevate as the injury picture evolves. These moves reflect a short-term roster response grounded in the club’s recent injury-driven rotations and a reliance on practice-squad depth to sustain the active roster.
